Open Bill Stork

anastomus oscitans

Description:

Long Necked Birds, in a large flock. Black and white.

Habitat:

Near a dried out Lotuspond/lake in amongst grassland and building sites, Phuket, Thailand.

Notes:

I had passed this area for 6 years nearly every day and never seen these birds before. Until they (people) drained the lake to start building and then these were there. Must have brought up lots of food on the left over water surface for them to eat. There were hundreds of them.

Ha VivBraznell. Thank you for that. I did think about those. I have spotted them in Sukothai before. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/125... But I wasn't so sure if this is what they looked like when flying. I guess they did.
Thanks!
