Spotted Towhee

Pipilo maculatus

Description:

Robin-sized bird, black and white with rusty patches on flanks.

Habitat:

Habitually sifts through leaf litter along forest edges. Males call from exposed perches in treetops.

Notes:

This individual was spotted near the nature center in Bear Creek Regional Park, Colorado Springs.
