Pica pica
A loud species in the corvid family that is easily identified by its black and white plumage. There is little to no sexual dimorphism in magpies, meaning the males and females look alike. Although not demonstrated in this picture the black plumage will shine in green and violet under certain light. Magpies are known to be quite intelligent birds, and will frequently gang up against cats and other domestic animals.
Widely distributed and frequently seen in urban environments.
This bird was spotted sitting right in front of an incredible rainbow.
