A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Archilestes grandis
North America's largest damselfly Dark brown abdomen with S9-10 pruinose, yellow stripe on either side of thorax. Male has blue eyes.
Slow streams, usually with wooded banks.
When I first spotted this spreadwing on the rocks next to my pond waterfall I thought it was a dragonfly, but then learned that it is our largest damselfly. This spotting became a county record.
