Wheel Bug

Arilus cristatus

Description:

Assassin bug? This little one was just as curious about me as I was with it. Several times I put my hand in front of it, sometimes it would crouch down as in the fourth photo, other times it raised its front legs as if to greet my hand. It also kept reaching out to me while I snapped photos.

Reduviidae, Harpactorinae, Arilus cristatus. Reduviidae are actually assassin bugs.
