Acorn barnacle

Description:

Muddy barnacles. They're pretty much the only noticeable creatures besides the gulls that survived on this beach I scoped out, post Hurricane Sandy.

Habitat:

An Atlantic beach.

Notes:

Not sure if these are still alive. Possibly Balanus sp.

Thank you, Sarah. New Yorkers are like barnacles... despite the tides, they cling to life!

Thanks, Dan! I can see it.

I'm glad someone appreciates the barnacles. I got a painful splinter as I awkwardly hung off a sandy outcrop to get these shots, and nearly fell into the water. Haha!

Cool. They almost look like puffballs.
