White Bird's Nest Fungus

Crucibulum laeve

Description:

Very small cup shaped fungi with circular, flattened white eggs inside. Pale, yellowish coloration. Young fungi have a reddish, velvety "lid" (see picture 6). Most common type of Bird's Nest Fungus in this region.

Habitat:

Suburban. Found growing in wood mulch next to a building, partially under a shrub.

Thank you Antonio! I have always wanted to find these. First time seeing Bird's Nest Fungus in person. I was surprised at how small they were.
