Description:

Reef fish, about 1 foot long. It was beige to pale yellow with a prominent black stripe running from above and through its eyes, past the gills and sweeping diagonally down and rearward. There is as well a forward facing wedge of black coloration originating at the base of the tail.

Habitat:

Tropical nearshore waters.

Notes:

Spotted in about two feet of water just offshore of Mokuleia Beach. AKA Reef triggerfish, this is the Hawaii state fish.
