Tetrio Sphinx Moth

Pseudosphinx tetrio

Description:

Very large Sphinx moth, about 9 cm long. This is the female of Pseudosphinx tetrio of the Family Sphingidae. The larva is an incredible striped black, orange and yellow.

Habitat:

Attracted to the parking lights of a shopping center on the outskirts of town, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

Sorry the pictures are so small, my camera was set too low.

Thank you bayucca, I agree with your identification and I thank you. I went back to the woods to see if she was still there, but couldn't find her. The next time I seen one I will add a new picture to the spotting.

I am so sorry, I had my camera set on 3M instead of 14 and can't blow it up now. He was so beautiful and I regret losing a good picture of him. I took him out to the woods to get him away from the parking lot lights so he wouldn't be squashed. I will go see if I can still find him.
