Capparis spinosa

Description:

"Capparis spinosa, the caper bush, also called Flinders rose, is a perennial plant that bears rounded, fleshy leaves and large white to pinkish-white flowers. The plant is best known for the edible flower buds (capers), often used as a seasoning, and the fruit (caper berries), both of which are usually consumed pickled." ~wiki

Habitat:

rocky cliff near oasis

Notes:

called "lasoof" by the local Bedouin as opposed to "lasaf" for C. sinaica; fruits are pickled and eaten by the Bedouin; leaves are used medicinally

Hi Ori, I was looking back over some articles and, according to one, the Arabic name that the Bedouin guide gave for this plant is Capparis cartilaginea. Could that be correct? Why do you say C. aegyptia? Thanks for your help!
