Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Archilochus colubris

Description:

This hummingbird was busily feeding at the Turkscap on a hot afternoon in late October. About 10 minutes later, the first big cold front of the season blew through, dropping the temperature nearly 20 degrees in a matter of minutes. By morning, it was down to the low 50's F. I did not see him again, so hopefully he moved south.

Habitat:

Habitat yard on Lake Belton.
