Hoverfly; Sírfido

Chrysotoxum sp.

Syrphid. Chrysotoxum is a genus of hoverfly. This fly presents a typical case of "Bayesian mimetism" so it simulates a wasp to avoid predators, who avoid the "aposematic" colours due to previous bad experiences with wasps and bees.

Camera Model: NIKON D300. Exposure Time: 1/400 sec.; f/10; ISO Speed Rating: 800. Exposure Bias: 0 EV. Focal Length: 300.0 mm.
