This beautiful and sleek hawk moth has a wing span of about 70 mm. White antennae and legs make attractive trimmings. This female was laying eggs, which were a cluster of pale green spheres in a yellow matrix.

This hawk moth is said to be common through out Australia. The larvae feed on Coprosma repens ( Mirror Bush), Ipomoea and Fuchsia. Its long proboscis is introduced into the tubular corolla as the moth hovers like a humming bird. Family: Sphingidae Subfamily: Macroglossinae
