A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Bubo virginianus
I wish I could've gotten closer! I was so excited to see this owl fly by us! ~~~ The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation suggested the ID judging by the ear tufts and silhouette size.

Thank you everyone!
ChristyHolland, I wasn't sure if owls were actually classified as raptors. I will go ahead and add it though!
I've never seen an Oklahoma sunset that wasn't amazing and unique! =)
The silhouette says it all!! Great series Cammie!! And a gorgeous sunset (?) to boot!! I'd love you to add this to the mission Raptors of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8627...
Great spotting! Love all these photos!
Birding For Fun, I'm not entirely sure if there are any other horned owls in Oklahoma. I'm checking with our Wildlife Department. =)
That third photo is amazing! Thanks for posting. By the way, do you know what kind of owl it was? It looks like a Great Horned Owl.
