A "giant shield bug" of the family Tessaratomidae, maybe Lyramorpha sp.
Observed here on a betel nut palm (Areca catechu) branch/leaf in a large semi-urban yard & garden next to a disturbed patch of remnant lowland forest in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.
