Yellow Potter wasp

Phimenes flavopictus

Description:

Large, brightly colored potter wasp. Seen it building pot like nest out of clay. And placing some caterpillars inside before sealing it. It took about tree days to complete the process. The pot like structure has about 4-5 chambers, each having one or two caterpillars. The fate of the caterpillar is sealed. Eggs laid by the wasp will hatch and the larvae will eat the caterpillar alive carefully so as not to damage it's vital organs which are kept for last! Pl. see the video here.. https://youtu.be/h9IDU7kNjLw

Habitat:

Spotted on a jasmine bush in my garden.
