Thanks to the folks at Charles Darwin Foundation for the correct name of this Heron, and for the added information.
Please bear with me for the exact location of my spottings. I have to find the itinerary of my trip to be sure, and so far it's alluded me! As soon as I find it I will add it, as well as a comment to draw your attention to it.

Great shot Thanks for adding it to this mission, pamsai! Where on Galapagos did you spot it? - Note that this "Lava Heron / Butorides sundevalli" is now generally "lumped" with and considered a subspecies of Butorides striata, with the full name of Butorides striata sundevalli. Refer to www.datazone.darwinfoundation.
