Solitary Sandpiper

Tringa solitaria

Description:

White underside with the rest of the body being brown. Has brown and white speckles. Dirty pale yellow feet. Long darker grey beak. They have a white ring around the eyes.

Habitat:

At this time of year, the pond and canal are too low to make it to the lake which makes it swampy.

Notes:

Never seen one of these guys here before. Usually along the lake shore or in the river. This guy came back every day to feed. Eventually, a few more came by but they would stay a distance apart. When they got too close to the others hunting grounds they would fight.
