Common Assassin Bug, 4th instar

Pristhesancus plagipennis

Description:

10-20mm 4th Instar

Habitat:

photographed on the shed wall under shade from overhanging and well-established eucalypts and near Native Violet gardens and bromeliads. Similar examples were found hunting along the steel fence where they were common.

Notes:

Assassin bugs were uncommon when I first moved onto the property seven years ago. The property was populated by huntsman and large orb weavers. Changes to the area meant those spiders and similar predators disappeared and the assassins then became common
