Isopeda sp (I.montana group of species)
around 12cm across the legs. Large nocturnal predator often found on the roof and upper walls of homes in bush settings. While they are excitable they are not inclined to bite people. Hairy with a flattened body. The markings on the abdomen and darker colour might indicate Isopeda montana group of species rather than I. vasta as previously stated. According to "Revision of the Genus Isopeda Koch (Heteropodidae : Araneae) in Australia" I. vasta is not known in the area. David Hirst now identifies Isopeda vasta and I. montana groups of species and this appears to be one such
they hunt a full range of habitats where there is sufficient undisturbed bush or other places to hide. they are often found under bark, in sheds beneath piles of building materials and so on. This example was regularly found hunting the same territory of the back wall of the garage

Ah Sarah, you are correct. I have mixed two spottings. They are a female (small palyps and big abdomen) and a male (huge fluffy palyps) :P :)
Beautiful pictures you have, are these two individuals? The first looks female and the second the abdomen looks a bit smaller, wondering if its male?
lovely !
