Description:

Smallish brown mushroom white on edge, tending to grow in small clumps. Brown stem somewhat floccose, white gills.

Habitat:

In dirt by the side of a rural road, at the edge of the woods.

I should amend the spotting to say 'whitish' gills. I'm leaning toward identifying it as an Inocybe.

Looked to be growing from earth, probably mycorrhizal.
