Male (pictured, first photo) is just developing its breeding colors - strikingly orange head and the tip of the tail, on the black or dark blue body. Female (second photo), light brown with greenish markings.

Habitat:

Very common in sub-Saharan Africa. Here seen in Wadi Fira region in Sahel zone of Chad, in a small town on Sudan border.
