Indian funnel web spider

Description:

These 30mm dia spiders weave a sheet web usually low in the ground with a funnel like retreat at the center where it usually hides. At night it comes out and waits at the entrance of the funnel. As soon as any potential prey lands on the sheet web it runs towards and bite to inject a rapid venom that kills immediately. Then it drags the victim into the funnel and proceeds to feed.

Habitat:

Grasslands.
