Description:

Low growing/spreading plant with clover-like leaves. Small yellow flowers. Leaves are heart shaped and grow in groups of three. Fruit (seed pods) are green and somewhat elongated and grow on a stalk. Seeds are tiny, red and textured and are sometimes mistaken for insect eggs or pupae. Plant is edible and sour tasting.

Habitat:

Suburban gardens.

Notes:

Native wildflower that can be found along roadsides, disturbed ground, gardens, etc. Common. All parts of this plant are edible.
