Tufted Titmouse

Parus bicolor

Description:

The Tufted Titmouse is small bird, about six inches long. It has gray coloring on the upper parts of its body, with white below. There is some rust-coloring on its sides. The titmouse also has a small crest of feathers sticking up on its head.

Habitat:

Wildlife habitat yard along a greenbelt.

Notes:

INTERESTING FACTS Most Tufted Titmice live their entire life within a few kilometers of their birthplace. In Cherokee legend, they are regarded as messengers. They only occur in areas where rainfall is greater than 24 inches per year, and are more common where rainfall exceeds 32 inches per year. A group of titmice are collectively known as a "banditry" and a "dissimulation" of titmice.
