Melilotus albus
Gangly plant with elongated flower clusters. Small white flowers. Dark green compound leaves with three leaflets. Fragrant when crushed. Native to Eurasia.
Whirlpool State Park, Niagara Falls, New York. Growing next to a paved walking path. Semi cultivated area.
Used as a pasture crop and also valued as honey plants. Parts of the plant are reported to be edible but only when fresh, dried plants contain coumarin which can be toxic (prevents blood from clotting).
