Crinum lily

Crinum buphanoides

Description:

this Crinum lily with very narrow tepals stands about 50 to 60 cms high. The flowers are held erect., the large wavy leaves form in a distinctly 2 ranked pattern

Habitat:

shallow sandy/gravel soils above the normal flood plain of the Limpopo. Semi arid tree savannah with hot wet summers and mild dry winters

Notes:

This is the only Crinum species in the Southern African region to hold its inflorescence erect. These plants were growing on the Botswana side of the Limpopo.
