This vibrant little fellow was hopping around the cafe at the Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary in the Adelaide Hills. According to www.birdsinbackyards.net, male Superb Fairy-wrens have been labelled as 'the least faithful birds in the world'. Females may be courted by up to 13 males in half an hour, and 76% of young are sired by males from outside the social group.

Love these jaunty little birds. Several of our pairs manage to get in at least 2 to 3 clutches hatched each summer. The juveniles, with their stubby tails, are too cute chasing their parents around while begging for food. (like this one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/581...)
