Mourning Dove

Zenaida macroura

Notes:

A regular visitor to my feeders, but not so often to take up my entire window feeder, which gave me the opportunity to see how they eat. They swallow the black-oil sunflower seeds whole, unlike finches, sparrows and black-capped chickadees. Does anyone know if they digest the shell, too?
