Common Redpoll

Acanthis flammea

Description:

These are small songbirds are mostly white below with heavily streaked sides. Brown above with two white wingbars. Bill is yellow and the forehead has a small red patch.

Habitat:

Boreal forests and tundra.

Notes:

I keep missing the hoary redpolls that frequent this feeder, as I did on this trip as well. Guess that gives me a reason to keep going back...grin.
