Bubo virginianus
Large owl with ear tufts.
Chattanooga Arboretum & Nature Center, TN
This male Great Horned Owl arrived at CA&NC, displaced from his nest and parents as an owlet, with 2 siblings, in the spring of 1995. One sibling died, one was rehabilitated and released and this owl became imprinted and has been with us ever since. He is THE star of the CA&NC and can be seen on the pond perch and in the classroom.
