Description:

approx. a cm long. Black and orange with large feathery antenna. It has a long face (image two was pushed in Photoshop to make facial features clearer) The wings have black veins with a purple sheen. It moves quickly but smoothly and without the antenna twitching and general jerkiness of a lot of wasps

Habitat:

This was in a mid-summer, flowering gum after a rainstorm that seems to have liberated the pollen. The tree and flowers were alive with honey bees and Valentine Ants. The tree was on the edge of a school ground among general bush and semi-rural, coastal
