Genus: Rotaria

Description:

In the primary image the Rotifer is in its extended state (swimming); in the second image it is contracted into its defensive position.

Habitat:

Found in a growth of Foliose Lichen on a tree in rural SW Pennsylvania

Notes:

The scale bar in the images is 100 microns, approximately the width of a human hair.
