Powondrella cingillaria Geyer
Small geometrid moth, possible a pug?
Highlands of Santa Cruz, Galapagos
Thank you Bernard. This was the only species of moth we saw but it appeared to be very common in the area.
This is a member of the family Uraniidae, subfamily Epipleminae. Two species of Uraniidae have been recorded in the Galapagos and the other is mostly white and more restricted in distribution (Isabela and Fernandina). The resting posture is characteristic for epiplemines, and the hindwing often have these short 'tails'.
