Veined Ctenucha, Day-Flying Moth

Ctenucha venosa

Description:

Family Erebidae, Tiger and Lichen Moths (Arctiinae). This moth was feeding on Mullen and is very active during the day, flitting about from the grass to the flowers and back.

Habitat:

Abandoned field, semi-urban area on the outskirts of the city, 2,200 meters.

Lovely spotting, Lauren! Though this does superficially appear to be a member of the Zygaenidae family, this actually is a member of the Erebidae family, subfamily Arctiinae, which consists of tiger moths like this one. :)
