Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo lineatus extimus

Description:

Raptor with hawk-like feature. 12 - 15 inches from beak to tail. Light cream to brown breast and wings. Brown to black bars on wings with reddish shoulders

Habitat:

Dry upland located next to swamp area. Bald cypress stands.

Notes:

Not great shots but was curious about the bird type. Resembled a red shouldered hawk but was very light in color.

Individuals of the Florida race (B.l. extimus) can be very pale.
