Melanitis phedima
I was confused this to be the dry season form of M.leda. This is Dark evening brown butterfly. Both M.phedima and M.leda could appear to be similar because they cannot be reliably identified from the underside of its wings. These species exhibit seasonal dimorphism and can be highly variable in patterns on the underside. M.phedima has a strongly arched forewing apex. Dark brown underside with blackish patches and highly reduced eyespots. Upper side is more darker than M.leda.
Spotted at my home, suburban residential area.
Yet I don't have a clear idea on how to differentiate wet season and dry season form of M.phedima.
