Buteo lagopus (Pontoppidan, 1763)
This fairly large raptorial species is 46–60 cm (18–24 in) with wingspan ranging from 120 to 153 cm (47 to 60 in).[2][5] Individuals can weigh from 600 to 1,660 g (1.32 to 3.66 lb) with females typically being larger and heavier than males.
Got this one to stay on the pole long enough for pictures. Couldn't get good pictures of the underwing which shows very distinct wing spots. Obviously this is a winter time picture as they are not common here in the summer.
