Footman Moth

Barsine orientalis

Description:

Base colour is a creamy yellow. Dash-like patterns in bright pink. Black dots and tiny triangles. Very attractive.

Habitat:

Suntaley khola is a remote village in West Bengal, India with the River Moorti flowing by it. There is only one narrow motorable road that ends by the river. Lots of vegetation growing low. Many tall trees too. Very biodiverse. Spotted in the resort we stayed at. The porch light draws in the moths which sit on the wall near the light. By next morning many are ant-food. Difficult to keep track of the individual moth as they keep fluttering from wall to wall.

Notes:

For National Moth Week 2016.
