Blue Throated Barbet

Megalaima asiatica

Description:

The Blue-throated Barbet (Megalaima asiatica) is an Asian barbet, seen across the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Barbets and toucans are a group of near passerine birds with a world-wide tropical distribution. The barbets get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills; this species eats fruits and insects.

Habitat:

Urban and Semi Urban habitats. The staple diet of these birds are berries and fruits.

Notes:

Most commonly found within the Urban Space in the city of Guwahati.
