Melitaea phoebe
The Knapweed fritillary differs from other similar fritillaries as greater and because it combines in the front of the wings deep orange cells with yellow ones. Another identifying feature is the brown margin in the cell in the third column close to the edge of the forewing that is wider than the rest and in half-moon shape and looking as a step. The caterpillars of Melitaea phoebe feed on plants of the genus Centaurea of the family Compositae.
