Eurasian Curlew

Description:

A large wading bird that is widespread across temperate Europe and Asia. The males and females show little sexual dimorphism aside from the females having slightly longer beaks. The Eurasian Curlews are large (the largest waders in their range). Their bodies and heads are a speckled beige/brown and their beaks long, curved and dark brown.

Notes:

Once considered Least Concern (IUCN classification) the Eurasian Curlews status has now been updated to Near Threatened due to an alarming decline over the past decade (see Wikipedia for more information).
