Description:

About 23 millimeters in body length, black with violet and purplish highlights.

Habitat:

Mixed coniferous woodlands with aspen, adjacent to a large, artificial reservoir, at high elevation (>8,000 ft.).

Notes:

This species is native to Europe but now widespread in northern North America. Adults are flightless.
