Florida Scrub Jay

Aphelocoma coerulescens

Description:

Medium sized bird 9 to 12 inches in length. Iridescent blue to black with patches of white gray and tan. Black eyes and beek.

Habitat:

Lives in desert like scrub habitat of white sand, pygmy live oaks, and pine trees

Notes:

3rd "revisit" to Sun 'n Lake of Sebring Florida in 3 years. Same place, same street, same trees even. I would guess that some are the same individuals or their "children." Either way the colony seems to still be intact. With development at a standstill the scrub jays are surviving.
