Large predatory dragonfly with 3" wingspan. Native to Oregon and commonly observed especially in the Willamette Valley.
This dragonfly was pictured at what appeared to be rest- it darted off for a split second and returned with a small bee- you can see this predator consuming the bee in the photos- quite amazing!
