Glyphis Lichen

Glyphis sp.

Description:

Yellowish brown thallus with brown ascocarps that each look like a tight clump of small ovals... I'm not sure if they qualify as lirellate. The ascomata are embedded in carbonized stromata with a white/gray surface.

Habitat:

On a redbud tree in a suburban yard. Growing among other crustose lichens on the bark of this tree (see https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/51... and https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/19...)
