Description:

Xanthopimpla punctata (Fabricius, 1781), a yellow-colored wasp of family Ichneumonidae, subfamily Pimplinae, tribe Pimplini. Xanthopimpla Saussure, 1892 is the largest tropicopolitan genus of the subfamily Pimplinae (Ichneumonidae), with a total of 247 recognized species. Most species of Xanthopimpla occur in the Indo-Australian region and 135 species are known from the Oriental region; species richness is much lower in Africa and the Neotropics.
