Michael thanks for the info. I totally agree with you that many times specimens need to be examined to identify the insect. That's why I collect many of the insects I photograph in the US, to send them to experts that identify the specimens for me. I have found that many times males are needed, but in a few orders females are easier where the ovipositors are distinct.

bayucca is correct, its a Galerucinae of the subtribe Diabroticina (tribe Luperini). There are several described genera, with characters difficult to see on a photo (often only distinguished in males!).

Thanks bayucca. There are tons of these leaf beetles that don't have identifying pictures on the internet.
