Tanzanian Masked Weaver

Description:

Small to medium yellow birds, about 10-15cm body length. Dense yellow colour blending into rusty orange on the chest, particularly in the males. Males have a black mask on their face, Olive colours on the back and wings. Females more subdued yellow and olive markings, no mask.

Habitat:

Seen in the city, not far from the coast, but right in the city in Dar es Salaam.

Notes:

This little colony of weavers are quite an attraction for those who appreciate birds, they have been nesting outside the Sun Hotel for years. A lovely nature surprise in amongst all that concrete.
