Wood violet

Viola odorata

Description:

Herbaceous flowering perennial with small dark violet flowers. The leaf-stalks have hairs which point downwards.

Habitat:

Deciduos forest floor.

Notes:

I've seen violets before, but this one had a particularly dark, velvety shade of purple, almost like aubergines.
